From Brian Freeman at Lividian Publications:

Lividian Publications is pleased to announce our new trade paperback edition of Leviathan by Robert McCammon, the final volume in his acclaimed Matthew Corbett series, will be published on November 18 with brand new Vincent Chong cover artwork. Due to increasing shipping costs, we won’t be selling this one directly to readers, but Amazon,  Barnes & Noble,  Books-A-Million, Bookshop.org, and many other stores are already accepting preorders.

We’re also very thrilled to share two other exciting developments:

Later this year, we’ll be publishing a brand new trade paperback edition of Speaks the Nightbird, the novel that launched the epic tale of Matthew Corbett. We will reveal the cover artwork and ordering links in November. There will also be a new signed Limited Edition and Lettered Edition published in 2026, designed to better match the look and feel of the special editions published over the years by Subterranean Press, Cemetery Dance, and Lividian Publications.

In related news, we’re revisiting the other trade paperbacks we’ve published in the Matthew Corbett series, and in 2026 we will be republishing those editions with some slight cover tweaks to better indicate they are part of this epic series. Same artwork, just minor design changes. We will also be making the interior text more readable for those of us who love print editions but aren’t getting any younger. These are the same great stories inside, but the redesign means the page counts will be increasing, and we wanted to make it clear now that you’re not missing anything if you read/own a previous edition. There is no new content.

More news on these editions will be shared closer to republication. In the meantime, the previous editions are out there, along with the eBook and audiobooks. Now is the perfect time to start reading the Matthew Corbett series if you were waiting to make sure it was concluded in proper fashion. We’re pleased to report it most definitely was.

I had planned on printing the labels for LEVIATHAN today, but our shipper isn’t quite ready, so instead we’re going to handle a different bit of logistics. (This edition will still begin shipping next week, though.)

There are copies of the LEVIATHAN Limited Edition now available on a first come, first served basis, and it’s always tough to know what to do with the “extras” in this situation because they’re real numbers of a beautiful edition but also… it’s the 10th book in a series. Hard place to start a collection, you know?

I personally don’t like putting this sort of edition in a Grab Bag because it doesn’t seem fair to someone who hasn’t read the series or doesn’t own the other Limited Editions, even if it’s just a general “get a random Limited Edition so you can see what the fuss is all about” Grab Bag. A book deep in a series doesn’t feel like a good deal for the collector/reader, and I always want those Grab Bags to be a win for the people who take a chance on them.

Instead, I’m just going to say: this is a big beautiful Limited Edition of a really fantastic novel, and if you missed out early or want one for any reason, here’s the link while supplies last:

Please feel free to share that with any Robert McCammon friends in your life! Maybe they’d just like a special SIGNED version of this extremely important book in McCammon’s acclaimed career.

More news soon!

Best,
Brian

At the Leviathan book launch, Robert McCammon told me that, now that the series was complete, he would love to see other people write Matthew Corbett fan fiction.

Author Pete Mesling submitted “Troubling the Past” in February.

Now, author Amanda Desiree has contributed “To Slay a Dragon.” From Amanda:

The idea for this piece came to me several years ago, after I had watched the movie Dragonwyck. Vincent Price’s character, Nicholas Van Ryn, has a line stating that his family has owned the Dragonwyck estate since 1630. That means it would have existed in Matthew’s time, and, since Dragonwyck is in the Hudson River Valley not terribly far from Matthew’s Manhattan, it’s entirely possible that a Van Ryn ancestor (who would have looked and sounded just like Vincent Price, naturally) might have hired him to solve a problem. I kept turning over the possibility, coming up with an old-dark-house-style mystery story, complete with unexpected guests getting stranded on a stormy night. Now that fan fiction is allowed, I’ve finally given the plot a shot.

You have several options available to read the story:

Because the story is fairly lengthy (58 pages in the PDF), it is not presented as a web page.

We’d love to see more! From Robert McCammon: “The fun and interesting thing here is that you can do straight mystery stories, character studies, or delve into the supernatural as much as you please.” Submissions can be sent to the webmaster.

At the Leviathan book launch, Robert McCammon told me that, now that the series was complete, he would love to see other people write Matthew Corbett fan fiction.

Author Pete Mesling has done just that, and we’re proud to present “Troubling the Past,” his story set in Matthew Corbett’s world!

Pete also narrates the story in a YouTube video on his channel. From Pete:

“Troubling the Past” is my foray into fan fiction. Set in the world of Robert McCammon’s Matthew Corbett books, my story occurs before the events of The King of Shadows and aims to do a little after-the-fact foreshadowing of that novel. I wouldn’t say it contains any spoilers per se, but you may find “Troubling the Past” more enjoyable if you’ve read McCammon’s novel first (all of the Corbett novels, actually).

Brian Freeman of Lividian Publications posted this news today on his Patreon.

The interior font size for LEVIATHAN was selected to keep the already high retail cost from going higher, but the text turned out smaller than I expected for some reason and I definitely understand it was too small for some readers. None of us are getting any younger! So, here’s what we’re going to do:

The Limited Edition, like the other Matthew Corbett Limited Editions from Lividian, will have a larger interior font size. But those are expensive books and down the road a bit.

In the meantime, Robert McCammon gave the OK for us to rush a “Larger Print” version of the book. This isn’t a traditional Large Print edition, but it uses the same font size as the Limited Edition, which is considerably more readable. See the photo above.

Note: there are significantly more pages in this edition but it contains no new content. That’s just the result of the larger text taking up more space. You’re not missing out on anything new.

This “Larger Print” version is a trade paperback to keep the price reasonable, but there will be a “real” trade paperback published later this year with new Vincent Chong artwork, just like most of the other books in the series, and it will also use this larger font.

You can order this “Larger Print” edition on Amazon now — or if you bought the trade hardcover directly from me and need one, please just send me an email and we’ll work something out: brian@lividian.com

Also, I’m trying to figure out the best way to send this to the Lividian tier supporters. I know in the past some of you haven’t wanted trade paperbacks, and some of you won’t necessarily feel a need to have this particular edition… I’m thinking it might get included in another shipment to save on postage.

More news soon!

Best,
Brian

P.S. Some of you have correctly guessed we have Matthew Corbett news for later this year. First of all, shhhhhhh… Secondly, we’ll be using the standard Limited Edition font size for the text in all editions of that title.
